District Amateur Cricket Association Akola was established in 2007 and is recognized by Vidarbha Cricket Association and also by District Sports Office Akola (under Maharashtra Sports Council). There are 6 talukas in Akola district namely Akola, Murtijapur, Telhara, Balapur, Patur and Barshitakali. All the various cricket events of Akola district are organized by the District Amateur Cricket Association. Earlier, Two Ranji Trophy matches were played on the same ground in 1983 & 1985 Vidarbha vs Railway and Vidarbha vs Rajasthan respectively,West Division women's cricket matches were played, Similarly, a fundraising match was played for Sant Tukaram Cancer Hospital in Akola. Mushtaq Ali, Ajit Wadekar, Sunil Gavaskar, Sandeep Patil, Gundappa Vishwanath, Dilip Vengsarkar, Ravi Shastri, Mohinder Amarnath, Ashok Mankad, Mohammad Azharuddin, Jayantilal, Padmakar Shivalkar, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Chandrakant Pandit, Anshuman Gaikwad, Kulkarni and Lalchand Rajput were present in the match.
Also through District Amateur Cricket Association Akola through Vidarbha Cricket Association selection trail matches of all ages are being organized and state level school cricket competitions as well as national school boys team selection trails & etc. All cricket programs are being conducted
