Sarvesh guides Vidarbha pat Bengal
Vidarbha boys notched up their second successive win in the U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy in Chandigarh on Friday. They defeated Bengal by three wickets in an Elite Group C match to secure full points.
Chasing 238 runs for victory, Vidarbha reached the target in 46.1 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 91 by Sarvesh Ikhankar. He came to the crease at 71/2 and lost his captain Kush Sharma (48) in the very next over. He added 76 runs for the fourth wicket with Amaan Hussain (27) before the latter was dismissed.
Vidarbha's innings wobbled when they lost two more wickets in quick succession, but Sarvesh found an able partner in Om Luthade (37). The duo added 59 runs for the seventh wicket, taking the score to 236 before Luthade fell. Sarvesh saw his team home, remaining not out on 91 off 98 balls, hitting 10 boundaries.
Earlier, Vidarbha bowlers shared the wickets to restrict Bengal to 237/9. Om Luthade (2/43) was the pick of the bowlers.
