International cricket returns to Vidarbha Cricket Association’s stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur, with Team India taking on world champions Australia in the 2nd Mastercard T20 International on Friday, September 23, 2022. The Jamtha stadium, which had last hosted a T20I versus Bangladesh on November 10, 2019, will be staging an international match after almost three years.
To be played under the newly installed LED floodlights, it will be the 13th T20 International to be played at this world class facility. Interestingly, Australia, which played the inaugural Test and ODI against Team India at VCA’s Jamtha stadium in 2008 and 2009, respectively, have never featured in a T20I at this venue.
AUSTRALIA’S JAMTHA JINX
The Jamtha stadium has been a happy hunting ground for Team India, particularly against Australia, having beaten them in all the five international matches (1 Test & 4 ODIs) they have played here so far. The Men in Blue will be looking to extend their record while ICC T20 World Cup 2022 hosts and defending champions Australia will be eager to break the Jamtha jinx.

GUIDELINES FOR SPECTATORS
VCA officials are coordinating with the city Police authorities to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the match.
For the convenience of spectators, Maha Metro authorities, on VCA’s request, have kindly agreed to ply additional Metro trains from various stations in the city till Chinchbhavan Metro Station (New Airport station) and back to those stations after the match is over.
Normal metro revenue services from all operational stations of Orange and Aqua lines to New Airport Metro Station will be available till 10.00 pm.
After the match is over, while returning from New Airport Station to all other operational stations, additional trains will be available till 1:00 am.
Maha Metro authorities have urged the spectators to buy return journey tickets initially from the boarding station to minimize travel time and to ease the flow of traffic to Jamtha.
The VCA has made arrangements to deploy 60 buses to ferry spectators from New Airport Metro station to Jamtha before the start of the match and from Jamtha to New Airport Metro Station after the match.
The buses will ply between 1 pm on 23rd September to 2am on 24th September 2022 from Airport Metro Station to VCA Jamtha Stadium as well as to our various parking areas like Sharirik Shikshan Ground etc continuously.
The buses will drop off/pick up spectators (before and after the match) at convenient points near the stadium as the adjacent parking areas have been rendered slushy by incessant rains over the past week.
In spite of the challenges posed by inclement weather, the VCA is working on a war footing in order to get the parking areas ready before the match for the benefit of spectators.
The VCA, however, urges them to use the Metro facility for a smoother and safer commute on the match day.
GATES WILL BE OPENED TO PUBLIC AT 3.30 PM
Spectators are requested to strictly follow the instructions printed on the reverse of the tickets.
The VCA appeals to the spectators to:
1. Strictly follow Government guidelines pertaining to the COVID-19 protocols.
