Aman Mokhade (265) and Danish Malewar (205 not out) struck double hundreds as Vidarbha closed in on an innings win against Meghalaya on Day 2 of their four-day Group E League match of the U-25 C.K. Nayudu Trophy at the VCA’s Civil Lines Stadium in Nagpur on Monday.
Mokhade and Malewar added 382 runs off 484 deliveries for the second wicket to help Vidarbha declare their first innings on 542/2 in reply to Meghalaya’s first innings tally of 126. Mokhade faced 283 deliveries, hitting 33 boundaries and a six in course of his epic knock, while Malewar faced 275 balls and struck 25 fours and two sixes.
Needing 416 runs to make Vidarbha bat again, Meghalaya began their second easy disastrously, losing four wickets for 18 runs before close of play on Day 2. They are still 398 runs behind with six wickets in hand.
An innings win will ensure seven points for Vidarbha, who are eyeing a quarter-final berth.
